iMpulse is MPAA's resident youth Jazz Dance company. Directed by Sara Hart,  the company's mission is to honor the art form by learning, creating, and performing a dynamic a varied repertoire. They are currently working with their first guest choreographer, Jose de la Cuesta.
kirekai is MPAA's resident youth Contemporary dance company.  Under the direction of Katie Penick, kirekai is in it's first season of rehearsal.  More information regarding kirekai performances and opportunities will be posted soon!

Under the Artistic Direction of Katie Padgett Miller and managed by Nick King, the Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble (MYTE) is a youth tap dance ensemble comprised of a group of highly motivated and talented tap dancers from the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Area.  The group has had the pleasure to work with Chloe Arnold, Lane Alexander, Josh Hilberman, Barbara Duffy, Nancy newell, and Vikki Weinberger.  In only its second year, MYTE has performed at the National Cherry Blossom Festival,  on the CBS Early Show,  The Jack Guidone Theater, LEGacy: A Tribute Concert to Jimmy Slyde & Lavaughn Robinson, Metropolitan Performing Arts Theater's "Fall Into the Arts Banquet", the annual MFAC Holiday Showcase,  and has held their first anniversary concert!  MYTE has also performed at numerous community venues and prides itself in sharing tap dance with the DC Metro Area.

We challenge our volunteer artists to grow by providing extraordinary performance opportunities supported by experienced coaching and direction. We look to enrich the community by creating a welcoming,friendly, and stimulating environment that encourages people with different talents and interests to come together and celebrate the experience of creating live theater.

MetroTAP, under the artistic guidance of Katie Miller, was born out of collaboration between members of the faculty at Metropolitan Fine Arts Center.  MetroTAP’s mission is to preserve and promote the traditional American art form of rhythm tap in addition to exploring new avenues for the future of tap dance, with emphasis on emotion, innovative choreography. MetroTAP's credit include the Lincoln Center in New York, The Kennedy Center, The Ernst Cultural Center, and the Jack Guidone Theater.
